Description
This ivory "liquid" satin two-piece outfit from the 1970s is absolutely disco fabulous: shiny, slinky and effortlessly glamorous! The long-sleeved blouse has a v-neckline, slightly puffed shoulders, a fitted, smocked waist and a 1940s-inspired peplum. It is decorated with a tiny needlepoint appliqué of pink roses on the left shoulder. The full-legged pants have a wide waistband with darts from the waist to the hips and a zipper in the center back. They flare outward from the hips to the hem, resembling 1930s-1950s loungewear or pajama pants. The satin fabric feels like a blend of rayon and acetate; it is soft and drapes nicely. Both pieces are unlined and are in very good condition. The top has a very tiny pink mark on the right shoulder and two very light marks (almost like scuff marks rather than spots) on the surface of the fabric, one on the back of each arm. The pants have some light yellowing near the hem. All of these minor flaws are more difficult to see in person than in our photos. Since this set was never actually worn, the minor imperfections must be a result of long storage. Each piece could also be worn separately with other items in your wardrobe: the top with a pencil skirt and the pants with a beaded evening top, for example.
