Description
The black wool knit of this 1960’s sleeveless evening top is completely covered in black sequins and beads. A beautifully beaded scallop design trims the front of the neckline, and is echoed by the scalloped beaded fringe at the hem. The sweater is lined with fine black silk, and closes in back with a full-length metal zipper. Although the vast majority of the beadwork is intact, there are a few missing beads, including one strand of fringe on the back, and 2 round end-beads from fringe strands in the front. The very bottom row of larger beads, at the hem above the scalloped beaded trim and fringe, appears to have responded poorly to dry cleaning, loosing some of it’s shine, but this is not noticeable when the top is worn. The top was made in Hong Kong, like many exquisitely beaded garments of this era. It is in very good condition.
