This slinky, draped black jersey knit early 1980s dress was designed by Becky Bisoulis. Chicago designer Bisoulis created couture clothing, as well as sportswear, furs, luggage and jewelry. "As an artist, I love to look at beautiful things," Bisoulis told the Chicago Tribune in 1990. “If you don't have sensuality in things around you, what's the point of living?" This dress is certainly sensual, with its draped, Grecian inspired silhouette and its extra wide, low square neckline. The blouson bodice will skim over your upper body’s curves, while the skirt will certainly show off your assets! The wonderful, elbow-length, ruched dolman sleeves are gathered into a center line of piping in front and a seam in back. The waist seam is hidden under the draping of the bodice, but it is emphasized by the skinny, self-fabric belt. Although the dress is technically unlined, the bodice section is made in two layers of jersey fabric, making it more opaque than the single-layered skirt. (The inner layer is sleeveless.) In back, the outer layer of the bodice has a center slit that exposes the (hand-sewn) plastic zipper. The fabric feels more like a rayon jersey, not polyester or nylon, but the dress has no fabric content label present. In very good to excellent condition, the dress has just a few tiny picks in the surface of the jersey fabric as its only issue. It is quite fitted at the waist seam, although the rest of the dress is more forgiving, so please check that measurement carefully.
