Description
The iconic knitwear of designer Bill Gibb often had patterns inspired by medieval and Pre-Raphaelite art, as well as his own native Scotland, and Liberty prints. This tie-front cardigan shows a bit of all of these influences with its mix of patterns in pink, rose, peach and dark pine green on a steel blue background. The wool itself is a medium-weight, flat weave. The sweater has a swingy shape that flares outward from the shoulders, with a center back pleated panel and the side panels (pleated with narrow ties) adding fullness at the hem. The cardigan came to us with one only of a matching set of what look like gaiters (or legwarmers, in more modern terminology), meant to be worn over the shoes and up the legs, rather like tall spats. However, since there is only one gaiter, you may choose to get creative; we have it shown on our mannequin's arm, for example. This beautiful cardigan is in excellent condition.
