Description
Sexy and sassy in black satin, this 1980’s cocktail dress has a very unusual cut-out midriff section, making it appear like two separate pieces, with the pointed sections attached at the front of the waist with (decorative) covered buttons. The sleeveless bodice has a (demure by comparison) v-neckline in front, with a small, pointed collar. In back, the bodice is completely detached from the skirt section, leaving a wide area from the middle of the back to the waist uncovered. The bodice closes in back with a row of buttons, and the skirt zips in back, and is lined in black taffeta. The skirt has high slits on each side. Although this piece is definitely from the 1980’s, it has a certain air of a 1940’s showgirl to it . . . I could see Barbara Stanwyck wearing it in one of her “bad-girl” film roles. It is in very good condition, with each of the side-seam slits in the skirt needing a few stitches to close them back to their original length.
