Description
This lightweight black cotton voile dress from the 1910’s has sweet satin polka dots woven into the fabric. The voile body of the dress is lined with silk in the bodice. It has attached net panels at the neckline and sleeves, trimmed with ivory lace at the sleeve hem. The dress fastens down the front with many hooks and eyes. The silhouette of the dress is narrow but unconstricting and the waist is high, almost empire, a shape popular during this era as a reaction to the wasp-waisted, corseted fashions of the previous decade. The dress is in very good condition, with 2 tiny holes in the fabric below the waistband on the back (which were too small to show up in our photos). Although the dress is in quite good shape for its age with no other noted flaws, it is still fragile, since it is around 90 years old!
