Description
This classic 1950s LBD by designer Dorothy O'Hara showcases the fabulous draping that she was well-known for, and which she used to enhance and emphasize the female form. The soft folds of black rayon crepe that form the deeply scooped neckline fall from each shoulder to drape the front of the bodice and create the illusion of a fuller bust. The rest of the dress has simple, clean lines that will flatter the figure while keeping the visual emphasis focused on the draped neckline. The narrow sleeves are tapered and close with metal zippers just above the wrists. The waist seam is defined with narrow piping and the skirt has small gathers in front, two on each side, where it meets the waist. The back of the bodice also has a scooped neckline, although it is not quite as low as the one in front. The skirt is slightly tapered from the hips to the hem and has no slits or kick pleats, making this a true "wiggle" dress. It is lined with rayon taffeta (sleeves left unlined) and closes with a vinyl zipper at the center back. This zipper may be a replacement for another, original zipper, although we cannot be certain. The dress is in excellent condition and is as elegant and versatile today as it was in the 1950s--truly a vintage gem!
