Description
This colorful and beautifully made 1960s cocktail or evening coat has a bright, abstract floral print that is really eye-catching! The garment unbuttons from the neck to the hem with 11 clear rhinestone buttons and has nice, bound buttonholes. The medium-weight fabric is crisp and slightly stiff, either silk or a silk blend. The coat has princess seams for shaping (with pockets set into the front seams), a small, round collar, and three-quarter-length sleeves. The back of the coat also has a seam at the waist, although the front does not. It may have had a matching fabric belt at one time since there is a tiny bit of green thread left at the waist, evidence of former belt loops. A back kick pleat allows for ease of walking. The coat is fully lined with bright green faille. A small, faintly yellowed spot on the back of the collar is the only issue with the coat, other than the missing belt. It is in very good to excellent condition, and will look gorgeous over a simple cocktail or evening dress. It will fit more or less like a size small, but please compare the measurements of the coat to an item that fits you well, since exact sizing for this garment is difficult to estimate. The coat will most likely fit best over a sleeveless dress or top, since 1960s clothing tends to run a bit narrow through the armholes and shoulders.
