Description
Luis Estévez was a well-known designer of 1950s and 60s-era "bombshell" dresses, but in the 1970s he began designing clothing for other labels than his own, including knitwear like this amazing four-piece set from the mid-70s, for St. Joseph. The set consists of: a hip-length, fitted jacket, a slightly A-line skirt, a zip-front jumpsuit, and a blouse to wear with either the suit or the jumpsuit. The jacket, skirt and jumpsuit are charcoal heather wool knit with wide, royal purple wool knit piping. The blouse is royal purple, slinky polyester. It is fitted to the body with darts and seaming. It has a keyhole opening and a tie at the neck and long sleeves. The jacket is lined with the same polyester as the blouse, buttons in front and has rather wide, notched lapels and piped pocket flaps. The skirt is also lined in purple polyester. It has a narrow waistband and a front slit, closing with a nylon side zip. The v-neck, sleeveless jumpsuit has a zipper down the front to about hip-level. It is fitted with curved seams from the bust to the hips. The legs are straight and have a two-inch hem to let down, if you need more length. The original paper hangtags are attached to the jacket, and the set is in near mint, unworn condition. This unique set feels very space-age stewardess meets preppy, ladylike chic--and since all four pieces can be mixed, matched, or worn separately, you can find lots of ways to incorporate it into your wardrobe.
