Description
This fabulous 1950s dark grey straw trilby hat by Dobbs comes with it original hatbox. The crown is indented all the way around, but curves upward in the center. There is also a tiny vertical crease at the front of the crown. The medium-width brim is edged with a narrow strip of black grosgrain trim, which matches the wide black grosgrain band with a large bow. The hat has a grey leather band inside, and a small ivory satin label at the top of the crown. It is in excellent to mint condition, appearing very gently worn, if worn at all. Fun trivia note: the hat's inner leather band is stamped "Baskin", which was a men's store located in the Palmer House in Chicago, owned by Burt Baskin who later went on to found the Baskin-Robbins ice cream chain with his brother-in-law Irv Robbins.
