Description
The navy blue and burgundy rayon fabric of this late 1940s or early 1950s dress has a wonderful, nubby texture and a slight sheen, rather like "sharkskin". The bodice is gently fitted, with a large collar, short, cuffed sleeves, padded shoulders, a matching fabric belt to cinch the waist and a small peplum, in front only. The straight skirt has a small kick pleat in the back. The rayon fabric is a bit sheer, so you may want to wear a slip underneath, since the dress is unlined. The dress closes with a metal zipper in the side seam. It is in excellent condition. It has been pinned to the mannequin; please see the last photo, where it is unpinned, for a better idea of its actual size. The nubby texture of the fabric did not agree with our camera's focus, but you can best see it in our close-up photos of the bodice and the label.
