Description
The silhouette of this 1950’s mauve lace cocktail dress is different depending on whether you’re viewing it from the front or the back: in front, the skirt is slightly A-line, but in back, it is much more full. The fitted, round neck bodice has tiny rhinestones and glass bead trim. In front, the pointed waist seam hits at the natural waist, but in back the pointed waist seam is dropped below the waist. Underneath the skirt in back, an elastic band holds the fullness in check, to keep the line of the straighter skirt in front. The dress closes with a back metal zipper (does not go all the way to the top of the dress), and is lined in mauve taffeta. It is in very good condition, with one faint spot on the back of the bodice, which will be hard to see when the dress is worn (see close-up photo). The mauve floral lace fabric and the full back of the skirt give this dress a demurely feminine appeal.
