We love the triple row of ruffles trimming the hem of this navy blue rayon crepe late 1940s or early 1950s dress. The top and bottom skirt ruffles are crystal-pleated and the middle ruffle is plain. They are attached to a fairly narrow skirt, with darts for shaping at the hips. The cap-sleeved bodice has a pointed collar framing the V-neckline, and vertical bust darts. The rayon crepe fabric is unlined and the dress fastens with a metal zipper in the left side seam. It is in very good condition, with a faintly visible, light mark on the fabric of the back right hip area (see photo) and a bit of pulling to the seams near the waist—neither of which should be as noticeable when the dress is worn as it is in our photos, which have been lightened to show more detail. Dress this versatile, circa late 40s or early 50s dress up or down with accessories: wear it to work, then out for the evening!
