Description
This oatmeal-heather-colored, mixed crochet and plain knit sweater dress from the early 1970s has a matching long-sleeved top with a row of fabulous fringe that drapes over the waist of the dress below. Without the fringed top, the dress itself has a v-neckline and a sheer, lacy-patterned, crochet knit sleeveless bodice, with a curved waist seam where it meets the plain knit skirt, which is gored and slightly flared from hips to hem. The dress closes with a plastic zipper at center back and is unlined. The skirt section is much less sheer than the bodice. The crochet knit top has a high neckline and zips up the back with a metal zipper. Each tassel trimming the curved hem has a knot at the top and is six inches long. The knit fibers are soft and very slightly slippery to the touch, possibly a blend of acrylic and rayon (the set is labeled dry clean only, so rayon is a good guess). The set is in very good to excellent condition, with one very faint spot on the skirt area, near the right front gore/seam (it is too light to appear clearly in our close-up photo of it). Each piece of this set could of course be worn separately, and together they make a fantastic outfit, versatile enough to go from day to evening with ease.
