Description
This apron, probably dating from the 1960’s, is unique, and downright weird! It was made to resemble a tabard, a tunic-like garment, generally without sleeves. Tabards were worn by knights in the late Middle Ages over their armor, often emblazoned with their coat of arms, and open at the sides, usually belted. This wacky, apron version is made of textured metallic silver rubber (you heard me right—rubber!) backed with a cream knit fabric, I assume for comfort. No grease or dirt will get past this apron onto your lovely attire! The apron has bust darts and a zipper at the shoulder to allow it to get over your head more easily. It is in excellent condition. As well a garment-protector, the apron would make a great costume piece: space girl, robot, Joan of Arc, medieval knight . . .
