Description
A full-length "maxi" or "hostess gown", this 1970's dress is made of crisp white cotton-blend eyelet fabric, lined except for the sleeves. The shape of the dress is fairly straight-up-and-down from shoulder to hem, with four patch pockets and a large, pointed collar. The dress closes down the front with silver metal and rhinestone buttons, neckline to hem. The unlined sleeves are quite full, with fitted cuffs. The dress is in very good to excellent condition with a few tiny marks on the back of the left hip, unlikely to be very noticeable when it is worn (see photo). It would look interesting belted to give it a more fitted silhouette, and would also make a sophisticated swim cover-up. The designer, Morton Myles, became famous in 1961 when Jackie Kennedy was photographed wearing one of his dresses for a Look magazine cover shoot.
