Label: Alumesh Whiting & Davis Co. Bags, Made in U.S.A.
A vintage “Alumesh” ivory metal mesh handbag by mesh-masters Whiting & Davis, this late 1930s or early 1940s bag has a chunky, ivory celluloid frame with a bit of carving and a matching celluloid chain handle. The ivory-enameled metal mesh has a convex round dot in the center of each link, sometimes called bubble mesh. The bag fastens with a large, ball-shaped, kiss clasp and is lined in navy blue faille fabric with one slip pocket. The handbag is in excellent condition, with no visible issues. The clasp was a bit stiff to open, but we have tried to lubricate it, and it seems to be a better, now. This circa 1930s handbag will be perfect for spring and summer, with your favorite vintage (or modern!) summery cocktail dress, or sundress and sandals.
