1930s black velvet evening coat hot pink trim | XS

A mid-to-late 1930s evening coat in black rayon velvet, this lovely is enlivened by a pop of hot pink wool jersey on its long, pointed collar, and down the center front opening. The long and narrow silhouette features straight, three-quarter-length sleeves, fitted shoulders (with no shoulder pads), and a gently flared shape from the single button-and-loop closure at the waist, to the hem. A second, velvet-covered button can be used to fasten the coat at the collar, as shown. The peep of bright pink facing, most visible on the collar, extends around the back of the neck and also down each side of the front opening. The rest of the coat is lined with bright pink rayon taffeta. The coat was most likely designed to fit a junior or petite size, based on the narrowness of the shoulders, the length of the sleeves, and the hem length (only about calf-length on our tall mannequin). In good, sturdy and wearable condition, this true vintage, 1930s evening coat has 2 very tiny moth munches on the pink wool facing, and some crushing to the surface of the velvet at the left side of the waist and on the inner side of both sleeves. It also has a faint watermark on the velvet across the left chest area, which is unlikely to be noticed when it is worn. It has been freshly dry-cleaned, but not spot treated.
