This jaunty, “top hat”-style tilt hat form the late 1930s or early 1940s is made of black wool felt. It features a tall crown with a rounded (or telescope) shape blocked into the top. The tiny brim is curved up on one side, with a fun, 3-D spiral of felt trimming the narrow band on that same side. The underside of the brim is overlaid with wide, gold metallic crocheted braid, for a touch of glam! The hat is unlined but has an inner band of black grosgrain ribbon, and an adorable label: “Sunnyland”. (It may have made/designed in California.) Because this hat is designed to sit forward on the head, the inner circumference of the crown is relatively small—see measurements. This dramatic, circa late 1930s ladies’ hat is in excellent condition, appearing barely worn, if at all.
