This black 1940s evening gown in lace and chiffon is an elegant, authentic vintage 40s dress in a hard to find, larger size. The sheer lace bodice has a deep V neckline with flattering shirring down its center, trimmed with tiny covered buttons. The short sleeves have extra wide openings, almost like a kimono sleeve. Below the waist seam, the dress has a hip-length, scalloped peplum. The full-length, rayon chiffon skirt section flares gently to the floor.  The full-length black rayon taffeta slip underneath fastens with a metal side zipper, and another metal side zipper fastens the dress itself. The slip has bust darts for shaping, a center front slit for ease of walking, and narrow shoulder straps. The dress is in very good condition, its only issue a tiny (pencil-eraser-sized) hole in the chiffon of the skirt, a few inches from the hem--unlikely to be noticed when the dress is worn. We have the dress pinned to our mannequin in the front and side photos, but have left the back view unpinned, to better show its actual size. All the size measurements have been taken from the slip for best fit, except for the sleeve length, shoulder-to-shoulder width and total dress length.
