This luscious black rayon velvet 1940s tilt hat or cocktail hat has a flat “saucer” or “pancake” section that tilts forward over the face, attached to a rounded, half-circular shape that hugs the back of the head to counterbalance the tilted front. The velvet fabric is gathered around the flexible, wired edge of the circular tilt section, with a smaller, flat circle in the center. A three-part, wired “bow” trims the back. The hat is lined with black rayon taffeta, with a grosgrain inner band. In very good condition, the hat’s lining has some staining from make-up, visible on the underside only (not when worn). The wire inside the flat crown is slightly bent out of perfect, round shape from storage, but it is still flexible, so you could bend it to adjust, as you prefer. This chic 1940s tilt hat will look fabulous with a cocktail dress or suit!
