This size 42 white cotton blend late 1950s or early 1960s full slip has bands of floral lace trim and dainty floral embroidery on its front upper bodice. The cups are gathered where they meet the underbust seam, which comes to a center point echoed by the waist seam, creating a diamond-shaped panel at the front waist. This lower seam of the panel sits about 2 inches above the natural waist, when worn. Below the waist, the slip’s skirt section is fairly straight. It should fit under a pencil skirt or sheath dress, as well as under more full-skirted garments. The slip’s only fastenings are the sliding buckles used to adjust the length of each ribbon strap; it pulls on over the head. The smooth, lightweight cotton blend (with nylon or polyester) fabric is unlined, and should be cool enough to wear on all but the very hottest days. In excellent condition, this true vintage full slip is labeled a size 42 regular, but please check the measurements below for more info about fit. My 2nd photo shows the slip unpinned from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its actual size and shape.
