This circa 1950s or 1960s vintage Borsalino Alessandria fedora is a classic men’s hat style in taupe or olive brown wool felt (the color is labeled as “muflone” in Italian). The taupe grosgrain hatband is quite narrow, as is usual for an Alessandria model Borsalino. It has a spray of earth-toned feathers and its original “wind trolley” string and button. The pinched crown and bound-edge brim are classic vintage fedora elements. Labeled as “Qualita Superiore”, this is a nice example of the high quality hats made by Borsalino, even into the later half of the 20th century. The hat is in very good condition, with some very minor discoloration to the felt of the crown from normal wear/use, but no other issues. Imported to Chicago by Baskin (formerly on State Street—see vintage ad in last photo), that hat was made in Italy. The hat is marked American size 7 3/8, both on the paper label under the leather inner band, and on the tiny size label that also gives the UK size (6 ½) and European size (60 cm). Please check the measurements for more size details.
