This Chinese lanterns novelty print 1950s dress in a classic, shirtwaist style is made of lightweight, silky rayon with a slight surface texture, similar to raw silk. The pretty pink and blue lanterns stand out against the cream-colored background. Functional, fabric-covered gold metal buttons adorn the bodice below the small, notched collar. The short sleeves have narrow cuffs. The bodice of the dress has small shoulder pads, and it is gathered into the waist seam in front, to create a bit of fullness at the bust. The dress has several pleats below the waist, to add moderate fullness to the front of the gently flaring skirt. A self-fabric belt cinches the waist. The lightweight fabric is unlined. The dress fastens with a metal zipper in the side seam, as well as the bodice buttons. This sweet, early 1950s novelty print dress is in excellent condition, with no flaws to note.
