This ivory beaded cardigan sweater dates from the late 1950s or early 1960s. This classic style of the era is slightly longer than the cardigans of the early 1950s and a bit boxier in shape, with bracelet-length sleeves. Small pearl beads in the center of each flower accent the pastel floral glass beadwork. Tiny white glass beads trim the front opening, neckline and hem of the cardigan. It fastens with hooks and eyes and it is lined with matching ivory silk (except for the sleeves, which are unlined). Like many of the beautiful hand-beaded items of this era, the cardigan was made in Hong Kong. It is in near excellent condition, with a very faint, pale pink spot that is hardly visible on the left front (see our close-up photo--it is really quite light and hard to notice). Perfect for wearing on its own with a skirt or high-waisted pants, this elegant beaded sweater will also look lovely worn over your favorite dress.
