1960s Resistol cowboy hat natural pale straw 7.25

Adding to cart… The item has been added

This deadstock, unworn, circa 1960s straw cowboy hat by Resistol is labeled a men’s hat size 7 ¼. The natural, pale straw is coated with “Vinylcote”, according to the paper label inside, to make it more stain and water repellant. The dark brown vinyl inner band is stitched to the straw. The narrow, knotted hatband is a very dark brown, as is the enamel on the metal grommets on each side of the crown. The crown is blocked with a center crease, and the brim curves upward on each side. The hat is unlined. In very good condition, this Resistol straw cowboy hat has one tiny hole at the back brim edge (from a price tag, no doubt), and one small mark on the side of the brim, where it is just a slightly worn (see close-up photos). Vintage cowboy hats can be as little hard to date, since the style is so classic and relatively unchanging, but my best guess based on the label is mid-to-late 1960s. Crown height: 5” in front and 5.5” on sides
Brim width: 3.25”
Inner circumference: 22.5”
