This early 70s does 1930s evening gown is an elegant column of black crepe, trimmed with vibrantly pink poppies! The sleeveless gown has a V-neck bodice in front and in back, very reminiscent of 1930s evening gowns. Several vertical darts shape the bust, and the full-length skirt is bias-cut, with a bit of flare from hips to hem. The fabulous artificial poppies on the bodice are sewn-on, but are best removed for future cleaning (we did so, before sending the gown to our cleaner). The dress fastens on the side with metal zipper and the bodice only is lined with lightweight poly/cotton blend black fabric. The crepe fabric looks and feels like a rayon and polyester blend, mid-weight with a nice drape. In excellent condition, this black bias cut evening gown from the 70s does a great job of stylistically echoing its 1930s counterparts, and it would work especially well as a costume stand-in for the era, being much more sturdy than most gowns that are actually that old!
