This late 70s or early 80s Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche pant suit is made of casually chic railroad stripe fabric in silver grey and black. The 3-season, mid-weight gabardine fabric feels like rayon or a blend of rayon and cotton, with a smooth and lovely hand. The hip-length jacket has 3 patch pockets, notched lapels, medium-sized shoulder pads, and bracelet-length sleeves. The jacket fit is somewhat boxy, but slightly shaped at the waist by small darts. It fastens in front with 2 buttons, and is quarter-lined (only at the upper back section) with black nylon taffeta. The cropped, straight-leg pant has a high waist with a narrow waistband fastening with a button and a hook, along with a metal zip fly. The pant is pleated at the front waist and has 2 slit pockets. It is unlined. Notice how beautifully the stripes are matched at the center back seam of the pant, and at the jacket’s patch pockets! This fabulously androgynous YSL Rive Gauche pantsuit from the late 70s or 80s is a great example of a designer vintage garment that will also be a practical and versatile addition to your wardrobe! It is in very good, near excellent condition, with one very faint and tiny spot on the left front leg and the very faintest line of yellowing along the inner edge of the jacket collar fold (see close-up photos). The suit has been recently dry-cleaned, but not spot treated. Please note that the jacket and pant are labeled 2 different sizes: jacket is European size 36 and pant is European size 40.
