Description
This fabulous early 1960s hat by designer Anne Fogarty for Saks Fifth Avenue features a large, three-dimensional black velvet bow atop an eye-length, black birdcage veil. The bow is attached to an open-crowned circlet of matching black velvet. The velvet fabric of both bow and circlet are rigid, sewn over a lightweight but solid base material. The wide-gauge veil has a shiny, almost waxy coating that makes it relatively stiff, also. This true vintage, early 1960s hat is akin to a fascinator or “whimsy” style—a lot of visual impact for not a lot of actual hat! It is in excellent condition, with not flaws to note.
