Size: 2.75” tall by 2” wide with 2” wide pinback.
Label: Made in Austria (very similar to Schreiner brooches)
This unsigned Schreiner-style brooch from the 1950s or early 1960s combines un-foiled, upside down (or point up) Austrian crystal rhinestones, in two shades of topaz, with ruffles of gold metal wire surrounding the prong-set stones. The brooch is teardrop-shaped and very large, heavy and three-dimensional—clearly well made! A small oval on the back of the brooch is stamped “Made in Austria”. Very similar to Schreiner jewelry of the same era, this brooch uses some of the same techniques as their pieces: solid, heavy wired frames used to layer the brooch; bars connecting the different layers; thick, open-backed settings for the stones; and the un-foiled/upside down stones themselves. In excellent to mint condition, this topaz-colored, Austrian crystal vintage brooch will add a dramatic accent to any outfit!
