Made of rich black rayon velvet with a slight moiré texture, this 1940s evening gown combines a cap sleeve, fitted bodice with a full-length, flowing, bias-cut skirt. The dress has a round neckline, no shoulder padding, deep arm openings (see side view photos), and vertical seaming shaping the bust and waist. Metal zippers close the back of the neck and the left side seam. (We have lightened our photos to try and show more of these details, but the dress is actually a true black color.) The unlined, crepe-backed rayon velvet drapes beautifully! In very good condition, the dress has a few marks or scuffs to the surface nap of the velvet, and the hem edge is a bit rough, but there are no significant issues to note. Accessorize with fabulous vintage jewelry, and this late 1940s gown is ready for the fanciest evening event or red carpet walk!
