This 2-piece 70s evening dress by American designer Bill Blass combines a tunic-length top with sexy front slit neckline and matching maxi skirt, both in slinky, leaf green nylon jersey knit fabric. The jersey fabric drapes well and is unlined. The hip length top flares slightly from bust to hem. It has piping trimming its round neckline, above the slit from neck to bust. The long, tapered sleeves are a dolman style, and are actually designed to be extra long, covering the tops of the hands as shown. The tunic top fastens in back with a nylon zipper. The full-length skirt has a fitted waistband with several small darts below it for shaping. It is flared gently from hips to hem. The maxi skirt fastens in back with nylon zipper and 2 hooks at the waistband. The set looks lovely on its own, but could also be belted, either at the waist or the hips, as shown in my 2nd-to-last photo. The set is in very good condition: the top has a tiny run or snag in the jersey fabric at the top of the left shoulder, and the skirt has a shiny mark from an iron on the right side of the skirt. Both of these issues are less noticeable in person--I have tried to make them extra clear and visible in my photos. Dating from approximately the early- to mid-1970s, this Bill Blass evening set will make you feel BOTH comfortable and glamorous! As Blass himself said, “No woman can be well dressed unless she is comfortable in what she is wearing”!
