Black cotton blend eyelash fabric 1950s dress | S-M petite

This early 1950s shirtwaist dress in black cotton blend “eyelash fabric” fastens from neckline to hem with sparkling rhinestone buttons. A tiny stand collar edges the V-neckline, and the short sleeves are cuffed. The dress has small shoulder pads, and the bodice has a small, vertical pleat on each side, to add fullness at the bust. The skirt flares gently outward from the fitted waist to the hem. The lightweight fabric is a blend of cotton and either rayon or acetate, slightly crisp, with a fun texture: woven all over with tiny, fluffy nubs or “eyelashes”. The dress has belt loops, but the original belt is missing. In excellent condition, this true vintage, “half-size” 1950s day dress is sized for a petite or short-waisted person—please see the measurements for more details about fit. Our last photo shows the dress unpinned from the mannequin, to give a better idea of its proportions.
