This black cotton novelty print 1950s full skirt features a darling design called “Apothecary Shop”, created by artist Laura Jean Allen for Associated American Artists, circa the mid-1950s. Candy, buttons, café tables and more make up the whimsical print; the white and bright colors used really pop against the black background. The skirt has a fitted waistband and a full silhouette. It fastens with a large buttons and metal side zipper, and the lightweight cotton fabric is unlined. In good, completely wearable condition, the skirt has three iron-on patch repairs present, one one located at the waist and two other ones near the hem, both on the back (see close-up photos). The repairs should not be terribly noticeable when the skirt is worn, but you may wish to replace these older, iron-on patches with newer ones, for greater long-term stability. There is also a bit of overall fading to the dark background of the skirt, probably from laundering, over the years. Shown here with a crinoline underneath (which is not included), this fun, fabulous 1950s novelty print skirt will be a “sweet” addition to your collection!
