This Asian-style black satin sleeveless cheongsam dress in a longer length most likely dates from the 1960s (these dresses can be difficult to date, since the style doesn’t change much—but the construction and metal side zipper make us think circa mid-to-late 1960s). The black satin fabric feels like rayon (not silk; not polyester), with small, colorful flowers woven into it. The dress is trimmed with bright red frog fasteners and piping at the high collar, bodice, and arm openings, and has additional metal snap fasteners at the right side of the upper bodice, plus the (unusual) right-hand-side metal zipper. Like all dresses made in this cheongsam style, this dress has a narrow, fitted shape, with bust and bodice darts. The narrow skirt has high side slits. The dress is unlined. A classic, Asian-inspired style is a great colorway, this vintage cheongsam dress is in excellent condition.
