This beautiful black lace dress, circa late 1960s, has feminine, wide ruffles trimming the three-quarter-length sleeves, and the midi-length skirt. The round neck, fitted bodice is lined with beige mesh and the sleeves are unlined, for an illusion of bareness. The skirt and cuff ruffles are both backed with black netting only, to add body to the floral acetate lace, and the main skirt section is double-lined, with a layer of black rayon crepe underneath the layer of black netting. The waist seam is somewhat high (see measurements), possibly high enough to qualify as an “empire waist”. The softly A-line skirt is gathered where it meets the waist seam, adding moderate fullness to the silhouette. The dress fastens with a plastic zipper in back. In excellent condition, its only issue is a missing belt; there are wide belt loops, but no belt is present—although you can easily add your own. (We have shown the dress with a skinny black patent belt in one photo, which is not included.) This romantic late 1960s or early 1970s cocktail or evening dress is a perfect blend of boho and goth style—sweetly feminine with a hint of dark mystery!
