This black nylon 1950s waitress uniform dress (or 50s maid’s uniform dress) has unique style: a long peplum or tunic design over a narrow, straight skirt underneath. The gently fitted bodice has bust darts for shaping, a high, round neckline, short sleeves and a cute, white crochet lace and button accent at the top of the right shoulder. More decorative buttons trim the top of the left shoulder and also the left side of the peplum. Below the inset waistband, the peplum has several small pleats, in front only, to add a bit of fullness. The peplum also has two hip pockets—for your order pad and pencil, no doubt! The dress is unlined and fastens with a metal zipper in back. The dress is in very good condition with one minor issue: 2 pulls in the surface of the nylon fabric of the skirt, about halfway down. This should not be very noticeable when this authentic, mid-century vintage waitress uniform is worn. It would make a fantastic costume!
