This junior- or teen-sized 1950s dress with a full skirt is topped with a cropped bolero style jacket. The set is made of red and black striped, medium-weight, woven rayon, with a slightly crisp feel, similar to a silk and wool blend. The short, fitted jacket has a darling, double-notched, wide collar, and is fastened in front with one functional and one decorative button, in pearly white plastic. The elbow-length sleeves have cuffs trimmed with smaller buttons. Underneath, the sleeveless dress has wide straps framing a square neckline. Above the underbust seam, the bodice has small gathers to create fullness in the bust. Below the underbust seam, the dress is fitted from ribcage to waist and then flares outward to a moderately full skirt. The dress has a metal zipper at the center back.  Both pieces of the set are unlined. In very good to excellent condition, this cute 1950s day dress and jacket set appears unworn, but there is a bit of fading, visible from the inside only, to the inner part of the jacket collar (see photo).
