This authentic 1940s swimsuit by Caltrex comes from an era when glamorous, vintage pin-up bathing suits could also include a fair amount of flattering coverage! The skirted one-piece swimsuit is quite modest by today’s standards, with the hem reaching to around mid-thigh. The lustrous, black rayon, liquid satin fabric is totally vamp-worthy! The fitted bodice has horizontal pleating to accentuate the bust area. Below the waist seam, the skirt section is flared to the hem. The medium-width straps can be worn either straight or crisscrossed in back, and they each have two white shell buttons, to adjust their length. The swimsuit fastens with a metal zipper in back and it is fully lined wit black knit rayon jersey. There is also a small button at the waist of the rayon jersey trunks that line the skirt. The lining has elastic on the back side only of the leg openings. This elastic, while not super tight, still has some stretch to it. This vintage 1940s bathing suit is in very good condition with one noticeable issue: the hem on the skirt does appear a bit uneven, so it may have shrunk unevenly at some point. This could easily be fixed by re-hemming it to whatever length you choose. It is a classic 40s vintage swimsuit, still quite wearable, and the liquid satin fabric is fabulous! We have shown the suit unpinned from the mannequin in our last photo to give a better idea of its actual size.
