This spectacular, shiny black straw 1930s hat is trimmed with bright red poppies, both above and below its brim. One spray of poppies trims the top left side of the brim, and a larger group of flowers peeks out from below the brim, on the same side. The hat’s crown is shallow and flat in front, and a bit deeper at the back and back-left, to keep the hat tilted as shown and best display the poppies trim when worn. The eye-length veiling is a wide-gauge red mesh, doubled over itself to form both a shorter and a longer layer draped over the brim of the hat. The hole in the front-right side of the red veiling that is visible in my photos has since been mended as well as possible (see close-up photo of mend), and unlikely to be noticed when the hat is worn. There is also some very minor wear to the edges of the floral trim, and a bit of discoloration to the inner grosgrain band from makeup. In very good condition, this true vintage 1930s black straw hat is quite wearable, and quite lovely!
