Black velvet bonnet hat 1940s-50s moons pearls trim

1950s Clothing

Size: 16" long by 9" wide at center, with a 15" tie on each side
Label: none

This black cotton velvet "ear-warmer" 1940s-50s hat or headband ties under the chin, and will keep you looking cute while your ears stay toasty. The velvet outer layer is sewn with tiny rhinestones, teardrop-shaped pearls, and crescent moon beads. The moon-shaped beads echo the crescent shape of the hat, which curves over the head when worn, with a center seam from side too side. The back section of the hat, below the center seam, is undecorated. I suspect that the original owner added the fancy trims, since the threads attaching them are visible against the lemon-yellow wool jersey lining fabric (see photo of hat inside out). Other than these visible threads (inside only), the hat has no issues to note, and it is in excellent condition. This “moonstruck” 1950s winter hat is just the thing for a day of ice-skating, or an evening of stargazing!
