A tall-crowned 1960s pillbox hat in lush black rayon velvet, this elegant cocktail hat is trimmed with a small spray of black biot feathers (narrow wing feathers, probably from a goose) that form the “tail” of a sparkly cord-wrapped faux “bird” with a pointed beak. The front section of the fine black veiling is trimmed with tiny black velvet polka dots. The crown of the hat is folded up at the lower edge, to create a tiny “brim”. The hat was originally designed to sit up high, towards the back of the head, but will also look lovely if worn tilted more forward. This classic 1960s pillbox hat is in very good condition, with 2 tiny breaks in the veiling, at its bottom edge, and a single row of missing trim on the sparkly, cord wrapped “bird” detail.
