A circa late 1940s evening gown in black velveteen—perfect for holiday parties and black tie events! This elegant gown has a halter neckline on its “vest”-styled, sleeveless bodice, with a slightly dropped waist seam above a full-length, full skirt. 2 tiny patch pocket sit just above the waist seam. Below the deep V neckline, the bodice is trimmed with decorative, velvet-covered buttons. The dress actually fastens with a metal zipper in the side seam. Bust darts and vertical seams give shape to the fitted bodice. The mid-weight cotton velveteen fabric is unlined. Although I suspect that the dress was home-sewn, it was nicely done. In very good condition, this late 1940s evening dress has one small mend at the left underarm, next to the top of the zipper (see photo), but no other issues to note.
