Size: 46” long. 3.5” wide at widest point (1 1/8” wide at middle).
Label: Wembley Nor-East, made of Priestley’s “Non-Crush” fabric, a special wool and mohair blend--see silly vintage ad photo from LIFE magazine, Sept. 1941!
This deadstock late 1940s or early 1950s tie is a rich, royal blue plaid made of Wembley’s special “Nor-East” non-crushable fabric: a blend of Merino wool and Angora mohair, according to their necktie ads from the 1940s and 50s. Like many 1940s and earlier ties, this particular tie is rather short. They tend to be shorter than modern ties, since they were often worn with double-breasted or 3-piece suits, complete with vests or waistcoats. This bold blue plaid vintage necktie is in excellent to mint condition, unworn, with its paper label (with purple and silver butterfly logo!) still attached.
