This mid-century modern cardigan—with an emphasis on the “modern”—bears a famous designer label AND unusual metallic silver trim! A licensed, 1950s Schiaparelli cardigan sweater in bright blue orlon, it has a geometric design in white and silver vinyl (!) appliqued onto its left front side. The buttons are white plastic. The sweater has a classic 1950s sweater girl shape: fitted at the waist, with wide, ribbed waistband and three-quarter-length sleeves. It is in very good condition, with some minor pilling to the surface of the orlon knit from normal wear. This fun 50s Schiaparelli sweater is unlined and lightweight enough to wear through all four seasons. Pair it with a pencil skirt or wear it over your favorite dress! According to the fabulous Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource, Schiaparelli labels like this one were used after the designer shuttered her atelier in 1954, but continued to license her name for use on sweaters, among other clothing items.
