This black rayon 1940s dress has a fun and fabulous draped peplum in a bright, abstract geometric and spiral print. The round neck, cap sleeve bodice has a row of decorative buttons along the top of the right shoulder. The lightweight woven rayon peplum is layered over the heavier black, ribbed textured dress fabric. The peplum is slightly gathered where it crosses over itself on the right side, and hangs a bit longer, in a single layer, on the left side. One fabric- covered, decorative button trims the left side waist. The bust and hips have darts for subtle shaping. The dress is unlined, and fastens with a brass-colored metal zipper in the left side seam, plus two buttons and loops closing the slit at the back of the neck. In very good condition, the dress has one small mend in the bodice fabric at the left front (just above the printed peplum fabric), and 4 tiny pinholes in the fabric of the peplum at the right side (see close-up photos). Perfect for dressing up or down, this versatile 1940s dress can take you from daytime wear to evening cocktails!
