Label: Sheltonized Mar-Less Velvet by Shelton Looms. Rayon Pile, Silk Back.
This rich burgundy rayon and silk velvet late 1930s dress features puffed, short sleeves and a flared, bias cut skirt. The high, draped neckline and full, puffed sleeves are created where the velvet fabric is gathered into curved, flat shoulder panels. The dress is unlined and fastened on the left side seam with with snaps, as well as covered buttons at the back of the neck. It has belt loops, but the original belt is missing. The velvet fabric is quite sturdy for its age, and this elegant 1930s cocktail dress is very good condition, with some wear to the velvet covering the top button as its only issue, other than the missing belt.
