This boxy 1950s ladies’ shirt-jacket or blouse by Bobbie Brooks in charcoal grey wool has short, cuffed sleeves. Wear it over a long-sleeved blouse or knit top, for an interesting layered look! It has notched lapels and very shallow, welted pockets in front. Diagonal bust darts and vertical darts from hem to chest subtly shape the front of the jacket, but it has an overall loose-fitting shape, similar to bowling shirts of the era. (In fact, the button and loop tabs at each side seam, and the back shoulder yoke with tiny pleats below, actually remind us of bowling shirt styling.) The hem ends at about high-hip length. The mid-weight wool is unlined. In excellent to mint condition, the jacket or blouse appears basically unworn. This sporty 1950s shirt-jacket was originally part of a set with the cropped, fitted plaid wool vest that we have listed here, in case you’d like to combine them for an authentic 1950s fall/winter ensemble!
