Label: Chimaki Made in Japan
This ombré bronze-mauve-pink lacy confection, a Chimaki bag, made in Japan, may date from the 1990s, based on the “dip-dyed” color scheme. Some Victorian or Edwardian influence is clear, as is the EGL (“Elegant Goth Lolita”) style. Layers of feminine lace and fabric rosettes are additionally trimmed with beaded fringe and a mauve tassel. The brass-toned metal frame of the purse has a tiny crown-shaped hinged clasp, and a long chain shoulder strap. The most ornate section on the front of the bag is actually a removable brooch—so cute! Inside, the fabric lining is printed with “chimaki”, with a small label in Japanese. In very good condition, the only small issue with this handbag is some verdigris (greenish tarnish), just visible on the metal frame, most notable on the hinged loops that hold the chain strap. This romantic lace Chimaki bag is absolutely sweet!
