This 1960s evening shawl or stole (or very large scarf) is made of lightweight, vibrantly colored Thai silk. The slubbed silk fabric has a bold stripe on one side, and a subtle plaid on the other, in shades of fuchsia, royal blue, and moss green. The shawl or scarf was made using the full width of the fabric, so that the long sides are the selvedge edges, while the narrower ends have a tiny, hand-sewn, rolled edge. Perfect for layering over your favorite evening outfit, the shawl also looks great wrapped at the neck as an extra long, fabulous scarf! It is in excellent condition.

See 2 other color combinations of this same scarf (here, and here) that I purchased from a world traveller. She brought home several lovely silk scarves from her midcentury, international travels, all appearing unworn. Perhaps she saved them as souvenirs, or intended them as gifts. This versatile 1960s silk shawl is one of my favorites!
